Carbmee, a German startup in the enterprise AI carbon management space has secured €20 million in a Series A fundraising round.

CommerzVentures led the round, with participation from Fly Ventures and many angel investors.

This round of funding comes after CARMMEE tripled its yearly earnings for three years in a row. Carbmee will use the funds to enhance Scope 3 emission management capabilities, accelerate global expansion, and advance its EISTM platform, including features like carbmee Studio for customizable AI-driven reports and dashboards.

Christian Heinrich, carbmee’s CEO and co-founder, said:

“This funding round is a validation of the innovative work we’ve done so far, but it’s also a launching point for what comes next. It demonstrates unequivocally that we were correct in anticipating the significance of scope 3 emissions in industrial businesses four years ago. Thanks to this investment, We will be able to demonstrate the worth of our platform to the Procurement and Operations teams and to all other organizational departments, such as Finance for integrated Carbon Accounting and R&D for Eco-Friendly Product Design.”

Established in 2021 by Christian Heinrich and Robin Spickers, carbmee tackles a critical issue that big businesses face: quantifying and controlling carbon emissions in intricate supply chains, especially Scope 3 emissions, which make up more than 80% of most organizations’ overall emissions, according to carbmee. Spreadsheets and other traditional technologies frequently lack scalability and accuracy, resulting in inefficiencies and data silos. These antiquated techniques are replaced by Carbmee’s platform, an integrated solution that includes customizable dashboards, AI-driven insights, and detailed lifecycle assessment data.

For well-known customers including Maersk, Miele, Coca-Cola, Lufthansa Technik, Schaeffler, and Anglo American, Carbmee’s platform has produced measurable outcomes. Customers have reported notable improvements, such as a 94% faster supplier carbon footprint calculation at KWS Saat and improved compliance with regulatory frameworks like the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), thanks to carbmee’s automation of processes and facilitation of departmental collaboration.

Robin Spickers, co-founder of carbmee, highlighting the platform’s potential, stated;

“Our platform offers a centralized platform for all enterprise users to manage CO2 emissions at the corporate, product, supplier, and SKU levels—enabling CO2 data to be managed as accurately as financial data in an ERP system. R&D engineers can create tomorrow’s green products, procurement teams can gather primary data and select the greenest suppliers, financial teams can report following CSRD or CBAM, and sustainability teams can find possibilities to reduce CO2 emissions, particularly in Scope 3.”

Paul Morgenthaler, Managing Partner of CommerzVentures, said:

“Since starting carbmee, Christian and Robin have already seen incredible development. They are at the vanguard of a significant industrial revolution as companies everywhere seek the information and assistance they need to control their carbon emissions. Their robust software solves a major issue for industries by simplifying the process of decarbonizing global supply chains. We appreciate the team’s extraordinary aspirations for the future and are eager to support them as they embark on this adventure.”
