Berlin-based, Super-App for Families raises €12 million in a Series A funding round

Berlin-based, Bling, Europe’s first Super-App for Families, has completed a Series A equity funding round, raising €12 million.

Owl Ventures, the world’s largest venture capital fund dedicated to education technology, is leading the funding round. The round’s co-investors include Commerzbank Group’s venture capital arm, Neosfer, as well as existing investors PEAK and Angel Invest.

Bling has raised over $15 million in total capital from well-known institutional investors (Owl Ventures, General Catalyst/LaFamiglia, PEAK, Neosfer) and prominent business angels (Verena Pausder, Lea-Sophie Cramer, and André Schürrle).

Bling will use the fresh funds to expand its product offerings with a focus on families, invest in strategic distribution partnerships, and accelerate growth.

With this funding, Bling hopes to strengthen its leadership position by offering simple, family-friendly digital solutions to help educate and simplify families’ daily lives in areas such as savings, investments, communications, and security.

Nils Feigenwinter, Co-Founder and CEO of Bling, said:

“Nearly 70% of parents are overwhelmed in their daily lives and face burnout. Our app provides long-term relief for families by educating and enabling them with tools such as easy payments and investments, a task and shopping planner, and family-friendly mobile communications. Within less than two years, 150,000 family members have chosen to simplify their daily lives and make better decisions using Bling’s family-friendly solutions. For many, Bling is already the ultimate family-friendly app.”

Bling aims to improve children’s and families’ financial and media literacy through the use of simple visualizations and educational information in the app. Bling, which launched in the summer of 2022 with a pocket money card and accompanying app, quickly evolved into a holistic platform for families, thanks to partnerships with industry leaders across verticals such as Société Générale and Evergreen, giving Bling’s B2B2C partners unique access to the family target group.

Most recently, Bling introduced its family-friendly mobile phone plan, “Bling Mobile,” in collaboration with Telekom, Europe’s largest telco. This adds to its suite of services, which includes a modern pocket money solution, simple investment options for parents, and household organization tools.
