Copenhagen-based Contribe has raised €1 million and, with this funding, aims to transform sustainable commerce by, furthermore, empowering all users to engage with on-brand impact projects with every purchase.

The funds were backed by Rockstart, Human Act Development, EIFO, and business angels Morten Baehrenz (Rackbeat), Jonatan Hjortdal (xLegal Director at Preseed Ventures), and Maria Krogh (CPO at Rackbeat).

Since its founding in 2023, Contribe has acquired over 100 online retailers as clients, and 100,000 users globally have accessed its platform. Through their platform, users may support causes like women’s rights, carbon capture, and plastic collection with everyday purchases at no additional cost. This is a “modern form of loyalty.

According to Christoffer Winther Bouet, co-founder of Contribe:

“Contribe’s foundation is the understanding that customers—particularly Millennials and Gen Z—aren’t merely looking for deals and savings. They aspire to change the world and have a beneficial influence. Meanwhile, they ignore boring ESG reports and dismiss empty eco-friendly claims.”

Christoffer continued:

“One million users by the end of 2025 is our unambiguous target. We’re building the future right now, and we think that shopping with social sustainability will be a standard for all companies in ten years. Brands that work with Contribe as a recognized partner can do good without fearing accusations of greenwashing. Nowadays, very few businesses actively support charitable organizations. This is due to the lack of a solution that enables them to fund social and environmental projects without compromising financial success. We’re changing that now.”

Tobias Ørskov Madsen, co-founder of Contribe, said:

“At Contribe, we consider each transaction a chance to change the world. Our platform helps businesses create a win-win-win scenario, where customers actively support causes they care about while shopping online, and companies directly benefit from making a difference.”

Contribe has quickly added over 100 clients, including the Swedish company Understatement, MessyWeekend, Copenhagen Cartel, and Sinatur Hotel & Conference. But for corporations, it goes beyond simply being morally upright. Companies that use Contribe can track how much of a positive influence it has on their conversion rates, order values, and repeat business—all while cultivating a devoted customer base.

They intend to grow the company internationally now that they have obtained funding from venture funds Rockstart, Human Act Development, EIFO, and several well-known business angels.
