Hearth Display, a family management startup led by female founders, announced that it has raised $2.8 million, bringing its total funding from venture capital and angel investors to a little over $3 million.
Hearth Display was developed by Mei Lin Ng, Susie Harrison, and Nathalie Stratton to make parenting a joint effort and to simplify contemporary family life. The trio had a superhero, working mothers who “did it all” when they were little, but they envision a different future for themselves in which parents receive more assistance.
To address the Mental Load, the trio has spent the last two years inventing and perfecting Hearth Display. This is possible thanks to their distinct experiences in product development, growth, and ed-tech.
As a result, the business is utilizing a framework that draws from social scientist and economist Diane Elson’s Three R’s:
Reduces: Through a centralized hub equipped with software that enables parents to handle hectic schedules with predictive automation, the company lessens the mental strain.
Redistribute: By encouraging family participation, the platform makes it simple to disperse the job among the home members.
Recognition: Throughout the process, the sometimes invisible work necessary to maintain a family’s visual communication is acknowledged.
The main offering of the business is an innovative operating system that fuses exquisite hardware with cutting-edge software.
According to Hearth Display, the user-friendly interface enables every family member to create and personalize their profile with images, routines, calendars, and more.
A virtual assistant service called Hearth Helper, which can upload invitations or soccer schedules to your family’s Hearth calendar is also accessible through the software.
Hardware and software put an end to outdated, disorganized bulletin boards, to-do lists, and fridge notes by creating a central center for the multitude of decisions, tasks, and plans a family makes.
The firm claims that the team polled and beta-tested with hundreds of parents who assisted in every step of creating the Hearth concept, including testing Hearth in their own homes.
Hearth also counts on the knowledge and firsthand experiences of its reliable advisers, such as Prasanna Swaminathan, CTO of Ergatta, Jenny Fleiss, co-founder of Rent the Runway, and Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code and The Marshall Plan for Moms, among others.
Hearth Display will be available for pre-order in the summer of 2022 for $499 plus two years of free software. The pre-orders will be shipped in March 2023, and a full refund is available before shipping. Hearth will be available for click-to-purchase in the spring for $699 plus a $9/month software subscription.
