Google Goes Global and Improves Street View and Image Collection

Google refreshes Street View imagery in 80 countries and launches the feature in four new locales. Find out how this upgrade helps you navigate the web more effectively.

Introduction:

One new feature being added by Google is revamping photographs within Street View in close to 80 nations. The company also introduces Street View in four new locations with new features for users to explore.

New Locations Added:

Their new addition includes Street View accessibility in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Namibia, Liechtenstein, and Paraguay. These locations have never appeared in Google Street View before, and their addition opens them up for the entire world to explore.

Updating Existing Imagery:

Google is even refreshing current Street View imagery in some countries like Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Japan as well as South Africa. This makes it possible for users within the social platform to be able to enjoy more accurate visualizations of their favorite locations.

Improved Image Quality:

In 2022, Google also plans to use a mobile Street View camera to take pictures of even more challenging-to-reach locations. Further, new updates in Google Maps and Google Earth consist of clearer satellite images, owing to a new cloud-erasing AI. Most of them remove or reduce clouds, shadows, and even haze, producing images that are “brighter and more vibrant.

Accessing Historical Imagery:

Google Earth users will soon be able to turn on the History of imagery in web and mobile applications, which has been available as a beta on the Google Earth Pro desktop version. It enables the users to conduct change detection, between the satellite and the aerial images; thus introducing another factor for geographic analysis.

Conclusion:

Such changes to Street View and satellite imagery by Google give even more opportunities for traveling without actually going. Since this business is still in the process of developing its services in the international market, users are promised sharper and better images of known and unknown locations. These improvements also come in handy when shopping for a trip and especially when using the internet to wander the world.
