Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max both feature 8GB of RAM. Johny Srouji, Apple’s VP of hardware technology, highlighted that this increase in RAM is necessary to support the new Apple Intelligence features.
Why iPhones Needed More of it:
iPhone 16 has new features; therefore, it needed to incorporate more memory into the new models. Srouji further said that with regards to the upgrade of RAM to 8GB, this was due to the necessity of greater performance. The added memory does not only help with the Apple Intelligence but also with the high intensive gaming requirements, making the iPhone 16 a true Superphone for AI and Games.

Apple Intelligence, set to launch with iOS 18, relies heavily on improvements in the phone’s hardware. However, it will not work with devices that are not compatible like the iPhone 15 which will only come with 6GB of RAM.
