Kwikset Halo Select – A New Age Smart Lock

Meet the Kwikset Halo Select smart lock that now has Wi-Fi and Matter-over-Thread, longer battery life, and better security.

Halo Select is the first smart lock that Kwikset has brought to market in five years, and the product includes a new design and Matter integration. Constructed with the Thread protocol, this lock maintains low power consumption and allows for longer battery life; however, it is compatible with Wi-Fi for those users who consider simplicity to be more important.

Available Connectivities Wi-Fi and Matter:

Offices can decide to connect with the Wi-Fi or employ Matter over Thread technology. This two-way support enables the use of the lock with Kwikset’s application through the Wi-Fi connection or a transition to Matter to be compatible with various smart home solutions, for example, Amazon Alexa or Google Home. The Thread protocol allows for minimal maintenance since its battery can last up to one year.

User-Friendly Features:

In addition to the touch screen itself, the Halo Select comes equipped with traits controlled through Kwikset’s app including Auto-Unlock by Distance, passcode creation, and door-ajar alerts. You can connect remotely without requiring a separate hub through Wi-Fi, while the Matter compatibility ensures compatibility with other smart home platforms.

Enhanced Security and Design:

Designed to be thinner and less noisy than older models, the Halo Select has a touchscreen keypad for the vent and a keyway for the lock. This has been proven by the fact that the door meets the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association’s, BHMA, highest security grade to provide dependable physical security. Non-rechargeable AA batteries or an optional lithium-ion pack powers this lock, and the users can decide which one to use at any given time.

Kwikset has plans to introduce Halo Select Plus with Near Field Communication in 2025 to allow select taps for further features like opening the lock with a smartphone or even a smartwatch that may adopt the new Aliro standard.

Moreover, with smart features, high-quality security, along a user-friendly working mechanism and integration into smart homes, Kwikset Halo Select sets a new level in the smart lock industry.
