San Francisco-based, Canary Technologies bags $30M

A $30 million Series B funding round led by Insight Partners has been secured by Canary Technologies, a San Francisco-based platform that aids hotels in modernizing guest management. F-Prime Capital, Y-Combinator, Thayer Ventures, Commerce Ventures, and other investors also participated in the round.

The funds will help the business support its rapid international expansion and boost product development. The most recent fund raises a total of $45 million.

With the first mobile online end-to-end Guest Management System, Canary Technologies, co-founded by longtime friends Harman Singh Narula and SJ Sawhney, modernizes the hotel IT stack. The business operates similarly to the Selfbook and Amenitiz startups from Spain.

To meet the particular requirements of hoteliers, the company provides a wide range of solutions, including contactless check-in and check-out, guest messaging, digital upsells, digital tipping, digital authorizations, and digital contracts.

The US business assists hotels in removing paper-based procedures, increasing employee productivity, ensuring PCI compliance, enhancing the guest experience, and lowering chargebacks and payment fraud.

Canary is used by more than 20,000 hoteliers worldwide, including the Four Seasons, Choice Hotels, Radisson Hotels, and Ace Hotel Group.

According to Harman Singh Narula, co-founder of Canary Technologies, “Canary aims to enable hotel operators modernize their tech stacks to give the greatest guest experience possible and maintain competitiveness in the dynamic accommodation industry.” We’re thrilled to collaborate with Insight Partners to keep advancing our worldwide expansion because of their extensive experience working with vertical software startups.

According to SJ Sawhney, co-founder of Canary Technologies, “Hoteliers prioritize this since a lot is going on in the guest-facing digital market. We have a clear vision and are eager to deploy extra resources to hasten the creation of even more cutting-edge products and comprehensive services for our hotel partners throughout the world. Our development is a tribute to the Canary team, which keeps innovating with our fantastic hotel partners.

A multinational software investor, Insight Partners collaborates with ScaleUp and high-growth technology, software, and Internet startups.

As of June 30, 2022, the company was managing regulatory assets worth approximately $80 billion. Additionally, insight Partners has made investments in over 700 businesses worldwide and has seen over 55 of its portfolio firms go public.

Thomas Krane, Managing Director at Insight Partners, said, “We have been impressed with the enduring business that the Canary team has developed and its ability to drive expansion, especially during challenging market conditions.” This is a testament to the best-in-class solutions Canary offers hoteliers as they work to satisfy the expectations of modern customers in terms of digital experiences. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Harman, SJ, and the Canary Technologies team to foster their expansion as they advance hospitality technology.
