Satispay picks €320 million in a Series D round

The digital payment startup Satispay has raised €320 million in a Series D round of funding, led by Addition. This raises its valuation to over €1 billion and elevates the startup to the status of second Italian unicorn.

Additionally, Greyhound Capital, a shareholder since 2018 and increasing its interest in Satispay, will follow suit. Coatue, Lightrock, Block Inc., Tencent, and Mediolanum Gestione Fondi SGR were among the additional investors who took part in the round.

The funding round demonstrates the effectiveness of Satispay’s mobile payment network, which was developed to be the go-to payment option for customers throughout Europe. Since its previous Series C round, it has made great progress.

“We are really happy that, following this round, we feel we have the proper tools and resources to realize our objective of developing the next dominant payment network in Europe,” said Alberto Dalmasso, co-founder and CEO of Satispay. We feel we have the capital required, as well as the experience and knowledge.”

“We have grown significantly over the past two years, more than doubling our customer base while entering three new markets. Additionally, we have added a tonne of new talent to our teams, which has assisted us in making Satispay into a bigger, more organized competitive reality. We are starting over, and we are more determined than ever,” Alberto said.

According to Lee Fixel of Addition, Satispay is redefining mobile payments in Europe by enabling users to send money quickly and securely both in-person and online as well as among friends and family.”

Lee went on to say, “We look forward to assisting Satispay as it develops its workforce, broadens its clientele and network of merchants, and quickens the pace of its operations to become the top payment network in Europe.

Alberto Dalmasso founded Satispay in 2013, and it is one of the very few companies that has been able to create a brand-new, independent payment network within a rapidly expanding consumer and merchant ecosystem.

More than 3,000,000 users and 200,000 merchants, including small and medium-sized businesses and global brands, are currently part of Satispay’s network.
