Sweden’s Lovable, a GPT Engineer platform that lets anyone make software, closed a pre-seed fundraising round of  $7.5 million.

In addition to Deepmind angel operators, AI founders, Siavash Ghorbani (Shopify), Fredrik Hjelm (Voi), Mattias Miksche and Bjarke Klinge Staun, and Stefan Lindeberg, co-founder of Creandum, lead the round led by Hummingbird and byFounders.

Lovable was founded to democratize access to cutting-edge product development skills that are usually only available to the best software companies.

GPT Engineer:

In addition to receiving finance, the Swedish startup introduced GPT Engineer, a beta product that quickly attracted hundreds of paying customers.

With Lovable’s GPT Engineer, users can quickly create functional web apps by using AI coding technology that produces production-ready code in real-time. In contrast to previous AI systems, the GPT Engineer provides immediate feedback, assisting both novice and seasoned developers.

It uses bespoke Large Language Models with sophisticated reasoning and vision capabilities from OpenAI and Anthropic. With the ability to recognize user intent and determine when to seek input for complicated projects, GPT Engineer independently develops, debugs, and maintains the integrity of applications.

The money will assist Lovable in luring elite European talent to its team, which already comprises gold medalists from the International Olympiad in Informatics and seasoned former scaleup operators. It will also be utilized for data collecting and refinement, as well as computational resources.

Lovable co-founder Anton Osika stated:

“We want to expand the world’s coding capabilities beyond the current 1% of the population who can program. As a result, we want to make software more accessible. This is already happening: after developing a sophisticated application, one of our early users, Simon, decided to take a sabbatical from their job to pursue new business ideas. Meanwhile, Katrin, another one of our users, created the first version of her SaaS startup. This funding will enable us to advance the business toward a time when we can embark on extensive development, freeing up our users to concentrate solely on having fun and being creative.”

Firat Ileri, a partner at Hummingbird said:

“Lovable is entering the market at a critical time when the demand for software development far outpaces the available talent. Only a small percentage of people can create web apps, even though they account for 80% of the software we use today.”

Firat further added:

“While a few businesses concentrate on developing AI coding helpers for software professionals, only Lovable’s GPT Engineer enables non-technical individuals to achieve the same outcomes. We’re thrilled to be a part of their vision, which when paired with their emphasis on dependability and practical application, has the potential to spur previously unheard-of levels of creativity for thousands of individuals and across numerous industries.”

Because GPT Engineer is like having a super senior developer share their tricks with them, users adore it. They can develop startups in only one week, produce stunning user interfaces right away, and link with backends with ease thanks to it. Whether they are technical founders or have never coded before, our users frequently tell us how quickly they can get from an idea to a working app.

With the help of Lovable’s large multimodal models, autonomous software engineers can independently build, implement, and improve software for anyone. With more than 27,000 people on the waitlist and 52,000 GitHub ratings for its open-source Command Line Interface (CLI) version, Lovable’s platform has attracted a lot of attention.
