WhatsApp’s native beta Mac app is now available

According to WABetaInfo, the new WhatsApp macOS software is now readily accessible for download from the company’s official website.

The messaging service formerly provided a web-wrapped macOS program for its web app, but the new version is a native app that uses system resources more effectively. Additionally, it has a modified three-panel design that makes it simpler to access calls, starred messages, and archived chats. Although it is now publicly accessible, the new software is now still in beta.

According to WABetaInfo, the new Mac app was created with the help of Catalyst, Apple’s cross-platform development framework that’s primarily known for making it simple to adapt iPad apps to the Mac. But despite years of rumors, Meta hasn’t made any public announcements or releases regarding an official WhatsApp iPad app. Hopefully, the launch of the new Catalyst-based macOS software indicates that an iPad version may still be coming.

You have to be a member of its limited TestFlight trial to gain access to the new WhatsApp macOS app’s closed beta, which has been running for a few months. However, now anyone can access WhatsApp’s website and download the software, which can then be connected to the service’s iOS or Android apps using a normal QR code-based mechanism.
