Software for orchestrating power grid, Beebop.ai, announces the completion of a €4.9 million seed round.
Angular Ventures leads the round with support from Contrarian Ventures. Leading utilities and manufacturers in Europe, the UK, and the Middle East currently utilize Beebop, and in the upcoming year, the company hopes to handle over 100,000 residential assets.
Utilities, grid operators, manufacturers, and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) technology experts may effectively manage intricate fleets of residential assets with the help of Beebop’s orchestration middleware. With the help of this solution, partners will be able to provide end users with greater value from the power system, including heat pumps, solar and energy storage, and EV chargers.
Beebop CEO and creator Jan-Willem Rombouts said:
“We are at a crossroads where improved device connectivity, regulatory changes, and advances in AI allow for new solutions. The power system’s newest abstraction layer, Beebop, lowers material costs and reduces emissions for the final user. With the support of exceptional investors, we are eager to launch Beebop alongside an experienced team in the sector.”

Angular Ventures partner David Peterson, said:
“Energy markets are changing The future belongs to renewable energy. The rate of electrification is rising. The future grid needs to be adaptable to be resilient. But organizing “behind-the-meter” devices at scale is a very technical, and more or less unresolved, task. The inventors of Beebop, however, are just the ideal team to crack it.”
David further added:
“They have been leaders in the field for more than ten years, and it was obvious from our first encounter that they had the know-how to execute this as well as the vision. Further, leading Beebop’s seed round and assisting Jan-Willem and company in their endeavor to construct the vital infrastructure layer that will power the grid of the future excites us much.”
Tomas Kemtys, partner at Contrarian Ventures stated:
“As a fund, we’ve wanted to invest in this space for a long time – however, it’s taken us a long time to find a team we can truly believe in, capable of building up the infrastructure technology to get the best out of our ever developing energy networks. We’ve concluded that Jan-Willem, Sandra, Bert, and their team are the most capable founders in our area, capable of creating an innovative firm in a competitive and fragmented market. We think Beebop’s technology is uniquely positioned to finally empower end users as crucial contributors to grid resilience, given its perfect timing in the market.”
