Supli, a French business that specializes in streamlining and improving food supply chains, has been acquired by Vienna-based Orderlion. It follows recent fundraising efforts by the Austrian team, and it will help them expand abroad.

The B2B food supply chain is already somewhat intricate. Even without taking into account the fact that supply chains are currently facing additional pressure from larger socioeconomic and geopolitical issues, it has numerous players and complexity to deal with. With players in the food and beverage industry relying on competing platforms and procedures, it is also one that has remained mired in manual processes.

Orderlion has acquired its French rival, Supli, as it prepares to compete in this market, following the acquisition of €4 million last month and the disclosure of its aspirations for worldwide development. With the acquisition, Orderlion will be able to expand internationally and roll out its software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform throughout France.

The startup is rapidly establishing itself as a key player in the European market for the digitalization of the B2B food supply chain by joining forces with Supli.

Similar to Orderlion, Supli was established in 2018 by Romain Rousselet and Antoine Gutierrez to assist food supply chain businesses in becoming more effective and sustainable. The company’s GMV has increased to €50 million since that time.

Existing Supli customers are onboarded and turned over to the Orderlion platform as part of the agreement. All Supli staff members as well as Orderlion’s two seasoned founders, who previously resided in Paris and New York and worked in the consulting sector, have joined the company.

The acquisition of Supli is a crucial step in our strategy to increase our presence in Europe, according to Stefan Strohmer, CEO of Orderlion. Supli has created some incredibly innovative solutions that complement what we have to offer, and we are eager to collaborate with them to make these advantages available to more French businesses.

Orerlion was founded in 2018 to modernize the industry by using digital tools to make the B2B food supply chain more scalable and sustainable.

With the help of its eCommerce operating system, wholesalers and suppliers of food and drink can digitize the entire process and interact more effectively and closely with their respective clients, which include restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets.

The platform enables users to configure their mobile applications for processing digital orders while smoothly interacting with suppliers’ existing ERP systems. With its expanding feature set, Orderlion also enables its users to effortlessly upsell new and seasonal goods to boost revenue by an estimated 35% on average and digitize their whole payment processing flow to reduce expenses by up to 95%. Orderlion’s B2B SaaS solution enables its clients to run their businesses more effectively, reducing food loss along the food supply chain and boosting their clients’ economic resilience.

Customers are currently using Orderlion’s products in five different countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the UK, and France).

As Orderlion grew from its Austrian roots, Supli has been spearheading the digitization of the food supply chain in France, emerging as a local rival. Therefore, this agreement marks a turning point for both businesses as they move from being competitors to collaborating on a more effective food supply chain.

Former Supli founder and CEO Romain Rousselet said, “Being a part of Orderlion is a great milestone and the start of a new chapter for our team. We were immediately aware of how closely our companies’ visions lined up and were confident that by combining our teams and technology platforms, we could significantly improve the value we provide to our clients. We look forward to working together to expand Orderlion’s presence in France.

This transaction is a crucial component of Orderlion’s objectives for international growth and establishes it as a major player in Europe in this sector while bringing SaaS up to speed.
